Inside Robbie Amell and Italia Ricci's 16-Year Relationship

Amell told Hollywood Life in 2015 that he met Ricci on the set of 2005's "Cheaper by the Dozen 2," and their first conversation was at a bar. Apparently, their first interaction was so small, however, that Amell didn't remember it until Ricci told him about it later on.

After wrapping up "Cheaper by the Dozen 2," Amell and Ricci went their separate ways and didn't meet again until they both appeared in 2007's "American Pie Presents: Beta House." Amell played Nick Anderson in the film, while Ricci played Laura Johnson. Shortly after reuniting, the pair began dating and eventually fell in love.

Amell and Ricci made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2009 Kids' Choice Awards. At the time, Amell had a main role in the Nickelodeon series "True Jackson, VP" as Jimmy Madigan.

In 2010, Ricci temporarily joined Amell on "True Jackson, VP" when she made a guest appearance in the episode "Pajama Party." According to IMDb, Ricci played herself on the show.

Amell and Ricci announced their engagement in August 2014 after seven years of dating. The "Simulant" star shared the exciting news on Instagram by posting a photo of him and Ricci kissing while holding a bottle of wine. "She said yes!!!... I think. I can't really be sure. I'm going marry my best friend. @italiaricci," Amell wrote.

Meanwhile, Ricci announced their engagement with a photo of the pair wearing matching robes while enjoying the sunset together. "I'm so lucky," she captioned the shot, which also featured a glimpse of her ring.

In February 2015, Amell told People that he and Ricci weren't in any rush to walk down the aisle and that their tentative wedding date was Oct. 15, 2016. "She wants a long engagement," the actor said about his fiancée. "We haven't found our venue yet, so it's based on availability." Amell added that details like the couple's wedding location were going to be "entirely" up to Ricci. "I want it to be the best day of her life," he said.

Amell and Ricci were engaged for two years before they officially tied the knot on Oct. 15, 2016. The couple shared so many photos from their wedding day on Instagram, including one of the pair leaving the church as husband and wife. "Best day of my life," Amell captioned the photo. "About damn time. Thank you guys for all of the congrats and warm wishes! I dig being an Amell. ❤️," Ricci captioned her post.

Amell and Ricci announced they were expecting their first child together in April 2019. The "Desperados" actor shared the good news on Instagram by posting a photo of him and Ricci holding their "bellies" together. "One of us is actually pregnant. @italiaricci 🤰🏻🤷🏻‍♂️😱," Amell wrote alongside the photo.

Ricci gave birth to the couple's first child — a son named Robert Amell V — on Sept. 12, 2019. The couple announced their son's arrival by sharing a close-up of their baby's hands on Instagram. "And now everything is different," Amell captioned his post.

According to People, the Canadian-born couple marked a huge milestone in January 2020 by becoming US citizens together. "3866 people from 116 different countries became American citizens today," Amell wrote on his Instagram Story at the time. "@italiaricci and I were two of them. Today was awesome."
