Travis Kelce Tried (and Failed) to Give Taylor Swift His Number on The Eras Tour
Taylor Swift can't come to the phone right now. On July 26, NFL star Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, revealed that getting in contact with the singer is harder than you might think, even for fellow celebrities. While attending one of Swift's Eras Tour shows, the Super Bowl champion said he attempted to go backstage to give Swift a beaded friendship bracelet with his number on it. Unfortunately for Kelce, he wasn't able to make it past security and was never able to give Swift the handmade accessory, a nod to the Y2K-inspired tokens Swifties swap at concerts.
"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows."
"If you're up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it," Kelce said in a recent episode of his podcast, "New Heights With Jason and Travis Kelce," which he cohosts with his older brother.
Apparently, Kelce's plan was to steal some one-on-one time with Swift. Her team made it clear, though, that talking to her was out of the question. "I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," he said.
Kelce added, "She doesn't meet anybody, or at least, she didn't want to meet me, so I took it personal." Kelce's plan to hit on Swift was ultimately a fumble, and while the NFL player was hurt, his brother pointed out a few other reasons she might have turned him away backstage.
"She probably just hasn't gotten over the Super Bowl yet," joked Jason, who plays center for the Philadelphia Eagles. "She's a big Eagles fan. [Or] maybe she just made something up and didn't want to talk to you." While Swift, who grew up near Philadelphia, is a fan of the football team, it seems more than likely that she just needed some vocal rest after touring multiple states for the last five months — but that's just our take.
Swift's agent did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR's request for comment. Though, with several European Eras Tour dates on the horizon, we hope the 12-time Grammy winner gets all the vocal rest she needs.
